Words of Encouragement for Buddhist by Master Venerable Sheng-Yen
Have faith in Buddha, follow the Dharma, respect the Sangha;
The Triple Jewels, a blight lamp shining throughout eternity.
Lit the character of humankind and build a pure land on earth.
Being grateful, repaying gratitude; this is the first step;
Benefit others and you will benefit yourself.
Foremost is to exert your best effort;
Neither compare ourselves to others, nor measure who has more or less.
With kindness and compassion, one has more or less.
With Wisdom, one in the best of health.
A busy person makes the greatest use of time,
And diligence keeps one in the best of health.
Sowing innumerable seeds in a field of blessings,
Why fear any hardship or rebuke?
Those who give selflessly are blessed.
Those who do good deeds are always happy.
Constantly feel joy in the Dharma;
At every thought retain the bliss of meditation.
Recite Bodhisattva Avalokitesvar everywhere;
And chant Amitabha Buddha without end.
