中華佛教慈善功德會成立於民國87年10月，以弘揚佛法、發揚國民倫理道德、復興中華文化、倡辦社會慈善福利事業、以淨化人心、弘法利生、護持三寶外、祈求國泰民安、世界和平、健全的國家、安定祥和的社會、全民能過安和樂利的生活為宗旨。本會過去幾十年來，均以熱誠服務社會，舉辦公益活動，勞軍、勞警、冬令救濟、捐獻獎學金、關懷老人、孤兒、殘障、貧病、捐付慰問金、教會寺院佈施、賑災、創辦多年義診、急救救難、監獄弘法、國際文化交流、國內國外供僧、國外賑災、世界佛教聯誼、成功國民外交，爾後本人還要跟隨各位先進者的腳步，繼續發揮過去的善行，幫助需要幫助的眾生，以慈悲喜捨之心行菩薩道。

(糸秀)女士微笑地表示其最大的心願就是以自己能力所及，幫助所有需要幫助的人。
自小生長於彰化望族的洪玉(糸秀)女士，由於母親的虔誠向佛，幼時即耳濡目染，隨母親禮佛茹素，並奠定下日後護持三寶、為善最樂的處世根基。洪玉(糸秀)女士表示，從六歲開始，她便時常陪伴母親到家門口對面的開化寺禮佛，佛門的清靜、佛陀的莊嚴、師父的慈祥無不令她深深感動，故在應是小孩貪玩的年紀，她已開始隨著大人念佛參拜，沐浴在師父的諄諄教誨中。早年的這段因緣促使她宏揚佛法，並立下發菩提心，行菩薩道的志願。
在洪玉(糸秀)女士的辦公室裡，擺飾著許多照片與紀念牌匾，一幅幅皆是她生命歷程的縮影。不論是供養師父、勞軍勞警、冬令救濟、幫助貧者、照顧老人、孤兒、殘障與病患、捐助獎學金等公益活動，她皆義不容辭地戮力推動。日前為宏揚佛法而舉辦的網路弘法籌備會缺少經費，她雖然事務繁忙卻仍撥空參加，並給予實質的捐助；而在林口舉辦的孔雀明王法會，受邀為來賓的她捨棄坐在貴賓的席位，而堅持起身與法師一同禮拜佛陀、恭誦經文，向善之心，不言可喻。
身為中華佛教慈善功德會的理事長及佛教居士會理事長的她，有感於緬甸等地的出家師父生活相當清苦，為讓其無生活之憂以全心修行，曾遠赴緬甸、印度、尼泊爾、越南等地供養師父，受到當地民眾的熱烈歡迎；實際參與至醫院義務照顧病患以及每週四天的中醫義診活動，已持續多年並獲各地人士肯定。而台灣多年來各地的公共災害、風災、水災，她更是發動所有佛教居士會的成員參與捐款、救助及賑災，並持續地關心災後人們的生活情形。
一九九四年，為響應國際對家庭關懷的呼聲，中國佛教居士會、中國佛教會、佛教青年會以及國際佛光會北女青分會聯合舉行「世界佛教徒靜坐大會」，邀請世界各地僧師參與盛會。當日中正紀念堂廣場人聲鼎沸，父母攜子一同參與活動，場面熱鬧活潑，而後續的念佛與靜坐，除帶給眾人寧靜斷惑之心外，亦為台北街頭注入一股祥和之氣。
在行善布施上不遺餘力，在事業上洪玉(糸秀)女士更是全心投入，積極進取。早在十大建設時期，台灣的經濟正進入萌芽階段，洪玉(糸秀)隻身投入汽車零件製造市場，對製造業一竅不通的她，重拾學生生活，到政大企業管理系讀書，並從最基礎的黑手做起，包括生管、品管、總務、業務、人事等皆深入了解，並以身體力行、分層負責的方式帶領員工，讓企業不斷茁壯。她所創立的信泰、敏孚機器工業公司，獲得裕隆、三陽、福特、大慶、豐田、中華、三富等大型車廠的長期合作，並於民國七十九年被美國通用汽車遴選為在台唯一的衛星工廠。
秉持「高品質、低成本」的策略，洪玉(糸秀)女士開始在大陸設廠，並且業務蒸蒸日上，在上海、天津、寧波、廣州、瀋陽等大城市皆設有分公司，並提供大陸的大型汽車製造廠如中汽聯、天津汽車、上海汽車等公司零件，另設立以進口推土機零件的順大貿易公司。
雖然工作與公益活動佔去了她生活的多數時間，但她對於子女的教養亦十分重視。在孩子的成長之際，也是她的事業剛剛起步之時，加上丈夫染病，她一個人身兼數職，管理公司、照顧丈夫，教育孩子。她聘請家庭教師指導孩子功課，課餘時間讓其學習各項才藝。雖有智育方面的加強，她仍強調對小孩品德的重視。就算再忙，她堅持每個月撥空至學校與老師討論孩子的在校表現、課業問題與教育方式。「勤儉持家、做事腳踏實地、待人成熟圓融」是她殷殷告誡子女的處世之要。如今，長男與次子留美後回國服務，三子、三女為醫生，長女與次女則分別為大學及高中教師，洪玉(糸秀)女士獲贈「模範母親」獎，可謂實至名歸。
對於事業的順遂、家庭的和樂以及子女的乖巧，她感恩於佛祖的庇祐；而至於所賺的錢財，她則抱持「努力賺錢、致力布施」的態度，她認為不論擁有多少財產，百年之後無法帶走，若佈施給需要的人，讓自己與他人皆受益，何樂而不為？
除了是兩家公司的名譽董事長外，洪玉(糸秀)女士現在除了是兩家公司的名譽董事長外，亦為世界佛教總會婦女會會長、中華佛教慈善功德會理事長、中國國民黨中央黨部評議委員會評議委員、中華民國宗教建設研究會理事長(組織：全國佛教、道教、基督教、天主教、回教、一貫道、軒轅教、天地教、天德教、天理教、天道教、理教等十二個宗教)、中華民國工商婦女企業管理協會理事長(全國每個縣市與世界各地皆有分會)、中華民國世界和平婦女會副理事長、中華兩岸交流協會副理事長。問及如此繁忙的工作與活動她是如何負荷的？她說：「有長達十五年的時間，我每天只睡三小時。」她認為每天有二十四小時不夠用，希望能有四十八小時的時間讓她妥善計劃並將宏揚佛法的心願持續實踐。
